Amending your payments

Information for existing mortgage customers about amending the method through which you pay your mortgage.

How can I pay my mortgage?
It is a condition of the majority of our mortgages that you pay by Direct Debit, and this payment method is suitable for most customers. However, if you are experiencing any problems with meeting your ongoing mortgage commitments please contact us as soon as possible and we can look at short-term alternative payment options with you if necessary.
Can I pay by debit card?
Ordinarily your mortgage should be paid by Direct Debit, although on some older mortgages you may still be able to pay by Standing Order. To find out what payment options are available to you please contact us.
How do I set up a Direct Debit?

If you currently pay by Standing Order, Cash or Cheque you may find it more convenient to pay your mortgage by Direct Debit. If you pay by Direct Debit you will also have the added protection of the Direct Debit guarantee to ensure that your payments reach your account on time.

To set up a Direct Debit simply print off the Direct Debit form below, return it to us and we'll do the rest. There are different Direct Debit forms for Bradford & Bingley and Mortgage Express customers, so please ensure you select the form that is relevant for you.

We'll confirm your Direct Debit details back to you in writing. Note that some types of accounts, for example certain savings accounts, cannot accept Direct Debits. Check with your bank or building society before sending us the form if you are unsure.

Please note - it can take up to 14 days for a Direct Debit to become active. So, we would recommend that you return the form 3 weeks prior to the first mortgage payment date. Until you receive confirmation from us that your Direct Debit is set up, please continue to pay your mortgage by other means.

Can I amend my Direct Debit?
You may wish to amend the date of your mortgage payment or the account that the Direct Debit is paid from. To do this please contact us and we'll take you through the process.
Can I amend my Standing Order?

We are unable to do this on your behalf, so to amend your Standing Order you will need to contact your own bank or building society who should be able to help you.

If you amend or cancel any payment method you have you must ensure that you continue to make your mortgage payments on time. If you do not, your account may fall into arrears. If this happens you might be charged an arrears fee and your Credit Rating could be affected.

If you are unsure of your options, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.
